Here 'tis! The work of startchitecture at Michigan State University which celebrates a grand opening tomorrow. Zaha Hadid's Broad Art Museum is a flashy number, with some sharp angles. It will be dedicated tomorrow at 10am and is named for the couple that gave $28 million for it to be built— Eli and Edythe Broad. As for the famous-name architect, she's more of an international operation, so this Michigan commission (only her second in the US) will certainly stand out for architecture tourists. Her first building in the United States was the Rosenthal Center for Contemporary Art in Cincinnati, OH, with which this new museum shares some similar themes. As for nicknames on the Broad, "The Cheese Grater" seemed like an obvious first choice. What say you, commenters?
