Collision Works, Eastern Market's proposed shipping container hotel/event space, is on track to purchase land from the City of Detroit on which to build. The proposed site is at 1923 Division, meaning that future guests would have a view of the extended Dequindre Cut. According to founder Shel Kimen, the city is charging them $1.25 per square foot for just over an acre of land, making the purchase price close to $55K. Although several complicated hurdles remain before the sale is finalized, things are still looking good for an opening in late 2013.
