Literary Detroit

Jeffrey Eugenides helped put Detroit back on the modern literature map with, Middlesex. His latest work, The Marriage Plot, has another Detroit character who is a religious scholar at Brown University. Is that Jeffrey himself? The author also grew up in Detroit and went to Brown but told NPR that when he writes about himself he gets confused. "..,when you put it into another character, you free yourself from having to be accurate and truthful." [NPR Books]
