The Architecture of Mies Van Der Rohe (the German who designed the Lafayette Park coop townhomes) gets a plug on WDET today, our local public radio station. Their series, The Detroit-Berlin Connection talks about the two cities parallels such as abandoned buildings, urban collapse, industrial power and the up-and-coming arts. Best of all, we get to go for a condo tour! The posted video begins with a historian discussing the importance of Mies in Berlin and ends in a tour of Richard Oosterom and William Ferry's impeccably furnished Lafayette Park coop here in Detroit.. See the highlight of the "haus" and get a history lesson at the same time.
