For the record, Detroit is officially 138.8 square miles and often rounded up to an even 139 for planning discussions. If you include the 4.2 square miles of water, the total is 143. This was likely all insignificant for the New Yorkers that came out to celebrate Julia Reyes Taubman's upcoming book at the Whitney Museum of American Art last Tuesday. The photography volume published by MOCAD is entitled Detroit: 138 Square Miles. [Vogue]
