Oh the pretentious pull of an invite-only party. Nearly 200 people attended the Alley Culture art gallery opening in Woodbridge on October 28 which is described as for artists only. "We're a tight group. You have to pay your dues to hang with us," said fiber artist Sheila Palmer of Detroit. "There's a lot of culture vultures that salivate and try to backslap and be part of your little world that don't even know what it's like to be an artist," says Jerome Ferretti, who curated the current show. Curbed Detroit is rather interested in the barn/garage structure which houses this so-called "best kept art secret," but unlikely to fool anyone into thinking it is an artist, given recent photoshopping. Alas. [The Detroit News]
