In our quest to cover all things relevant to rentals in one week, we now turn our attention to some excursions in real estate you might consider for a weekend or more. As it turns out, a fabulous, affordable rental with access to a private lake and beach are not too far away from Detroit! Says AirBNB, "It is really like being up North, but in the middle of suburbia." This two bedroom home sleeps six and is offered at $225 per night or $1350 per week. With 3,400 square feet and access to a nature preserve with walking and biking trails and wildlife (deer, hawks and owls!) you may not even need to turn on the 60" Plasma tv.
Our next option sleeps up to 14 people! Bring the party up to Lake Michigan to Cedar, MI just past Traverse City. (Should take about 4 1/2 hours driving from Detroit). From there you can get to Lake Leelanau boat access (5 miles) or drive 30 minutes to Sleeping Bear Dunes. It is booked for this fall but there are openings for next summer for $2,579/week.
Does it get any better than lake frontage and hammocks? We submit that it does not and that is why you might consider heading over to Grand Haven, MI (about 3 hours and 15 minutes driving from Detroit) to rent Gillett Cottage. It will run you $1,500-1,900 per week for this home with one king-sized bed and five twins.
