A long-awaited announcement from Detroit developers at the The Roxbury Group has finally arrived! They have secured the three-year old company Aloft Hotels for opening a boutique hotel in the David Whitney Building designed by famed architect Daniel Burnham (known more for Chicago's Monadnock Building and New York's Flatiron Building.) The fancy-pants establishment shall be known as Aloft Detroit at The David Whitney. Previous rumors indicated that Roxbury was talking to the W Hotel chain. By going with Aloft, they'll be giving the city signature elements of the Starwood chain, which owns Aloft. Bottom line? See you at the somewhat douchey sounding "re:mix lounge" and "w xyzbar."
