The Curbed Cup is our annual award for neighborhood of the year. Yesterday we kicked off Round One with 8 'hoods vying for the prestigious fake trophy. This week we'll have one matchup per day; all the results will be reviewed on Friday.
This matchup is Bougie vs. Boho! We love The Villages (East, Indian, West) for their to-die-for, budget-priced historic mansions and Hamtramck for its working class kitsch factor. As for the past year, The Villages really brought it when it came to bier with the pop-up experience of the fall: Tashmoo. But can booze beat a hood with its own hand-made Disneyland? Hamtramck's Public Pool delighted us with the Hygienic Dress League art opening and the hood is promising a new breakfast joint next year. Meanwhile, the Villages' proximity to the Detroit Yacht Club has made for a growing group of the young big-home buying bourgeois that are spiffing things up, one behemoth at time. Resident Matt Clayson says homes are being remodeled with pristine, proper historical detailing to the delight of design enthusiasts everywhere, a fact Jim Boyle confirmed in Model D just this am.
Note: All Round One Voting Ends at 1 p.m. EST this Friday. Have your say in yesterday's round while there is still time!
