Curbed Cup 1st Round: (3) Midtown vs. (6) Lafayette Park

The Curbed Cup is our annual award for neighborhood of the year. On Monday, we kicked off Round One with 8 'hoods vying for the prestigious fake trophy. This week we'll have one matchup per day; all the results will be reviewed on Friday.

This was the year Lafayette Park got a spiffy website and a rad tee-shirt! They also got a special plug on WDET in "The Detroit-Berlin" connection, a grocery store, and a Dollar General. Notable residents include Jim from Sweet Juniper, Detroit booster Toby Barlow, and architect Christian Unverzagt. Over in midtown, the stories of the year centered on new housing. Newberry Hall finished renovations and the Auburn announced that it would arrive next year (with Hatch-winner Hugh!) MOCAD got some renovation money, the Green Garage amazed us, and The Peacock room found gold in the Park Shelton building.
