Half the field has already been eliminated in the Curbed Cup, our annual award to the Detroit neighborhood of the year. For the next two days you can vote in Round Two—one matchup per day—with the polls left open for 24 hours. On Thursday we will announce the two contenders left vying for the prestigious fake trophy. Let the eliminations continue!
Last week Ferndale stomped Corktown to move to the final four but can it crush Ham Town as easily? The more notable high points of the year for this gayborhood were the opening of The Oakland Art Novelty Company and Rust Belt Market. Over in Hamtown not that many new things opened but the word did get out that it was not just for hipsters and old Polish auto workers. There was the growing feeling that more people from all over were showing up to Popps Packing and Maria's Comida and finding the hidden gems like the Detroit Zen Center.
