Today, Crain's introduced us to a fringe neighborhood hoping to become the next "it place." Welcome to Corktown Shores, named by Jacques Driscoll who intends to open a restaurant. (Because how else are new neighborhoods born?) The joint will be called Green Dot Stables and will serve 20 types of sliders. To be honest, it seems like this hood should be called Lafayette Park Shores, as it is on the east side, but then again the word corktown means "more places open here," in Detroit real estate. “At first we thought this was in the middle of nowhere but the more we thought about it, the more we thought it could be really cool,” Driscoll said. [Ed note: Google maps tricked us. This is in the west. Google's bad!] [Crain's]
