Are home prices beginning to stabilize in the Detroit Metro area? Our hard-hit (i.e. budget-priced) market remains low, but maybe not as bad as it used to be. Turns out we bottomed out in 2009 and since then we've enjoyed a tiny, but needed, 3 percent increase in housing prices. So good news? Meh. Not yet. "Overall, Detroit home prices have been very depressed," a researcher tells HuffPost. "In total we saw a nearly 78 percent decline from the peak value in late 2005 to the lowest point in 2009."
