Ham Town's Shopper's World Goes Shopping for Development

Ham Town's largest commercial building, Shopper's World, has sat around unused for the last eight years. Enough already. There are two floors and a basement for a total of 60,000 square feet and the city of Hamtramck is now shopping for something to do with it. They started looking for proposals on September 9th (Curbed obtained a copy of the RFP for perusal). Director of Community and Economic Development for Hamtramck, Jason Friedmann, says that locals have asked for a pet shop, an office supply store, a book store and a membership gym. That last one seems super obvious given the ratio of doughnut shops per block. Paging 24 Hour Fitness...
