A Brooklyn, N.Y. artist group called Artefacting spent hours yesterday installing more than 200 "peace and hope" flags by attaching them to a 50-foot spire atop an abandoned home here in Detroit. Thus far, the installation seems to be failing horribly to achieve its goal: bringing the community together to inspire hope and to share stories. Locals have responded by saying it “adds blight to our community,” that the project is, "not what we want in our neighborhood,” and that “It’s degrading."
