Iconic Images: Capturing Detroit in the Last Decade

The "Detroit Revealed" exhibit does not open at the Detroit Institute of Arts until October 16 but Slate's already got a preview with 13 of the more than 50 photos that will be on view. It's a mix of the usual suspects (Andrew Moore, Scott Hocking) and some you might not know yet. Curator Nancy Barr explains:

I selected many of the works for this exhibition based on subjects and places that were the opposite of what I saw proliferating elsewhere -- but I thought it was important to show the vacancy and decline too. It is widespread but unique, and therefore attracts many photographers and artists to the city. · Detroit: City of stunning contradictions [Slate]
