Royal Joke's Downtown Development Authority put the kibosh on plans to use the big open field across from the zoo as the new location of the Royal Oak Community Farm. They felt they could not lose this field as a staging area for parades, parking for Arts, Beats & Eats, overflow parking for the Detroit Zoo and as a place to dump snow removed from downtown. For the moment, this leaves the farm in the lurch as the city passed on renewing the farm's lease from the school district. [Royal Oak Patch]
