As mentioned previously, the city of Detroit admitted futility in preventing car theft/break-ins and thought they would do us a favor buy towing them away from the culprits. As expected, this did not make them too many fans. Twenty cars were towed from what used to be legal spaces in a program that was tested out to coincide with Auto Show week. Police Chief Godbee said this was a success since 44 cars were broken into the weekend prior. But with a pretty negative public response, especially since towing began the night before the pilot program was supposed to go into effect, they're doing a little rethinking on this one. [MLive]
