The Trouble With Trapezoids

Scratch that opening date for the Broad Art Museum at Michigan State University off your calendar. After MSU announced an opening event for April they had to delay it to fall thanks to ill-fitting trapezoidal glass panes. And Architizer seems to think this is what you get with Zaha. Construction delays are no strangers to Zaha’s projects, and having seen the incredibly shoddy cladding work done at the Guangzhou Opera House, it would not be the first (nor the third or fourth) time that the designs have clumsily made the transition from sleek renderings/paintings to reality. The $40 million project has seen its fair share of setbacks, which originally forced MSU to postpone the museum dedication to this April. [Architizer]
