Extreme Makeovers: Polluted Site Edition

Talk about a dramatic makeover in the making. Apparently one of the city’s most heavily contaminated pieces of property could become one of the most valuable. Work is underway to clean up the former Uniroyal Tire plant property which borders the riverfront. Excavators working near the Mt. Elliott side of the property are nearly out of site in a huge hole left after removing some of the heavily contaminated soil — so much so, in fact, you can smell the oil as they stir up the dirt. Gross. But kudos on the 43-acre clean up. Some days we can't even get one sink full of dishes done! [CBS Local]
