Gentrification Watch

Yesterday's Detroit News gentrification story presented the tale of a house that was demolished as an example of tensions created by old and new residents. Today, MLive debunks that. North Corktown (NoCo) resident Alexander Samul says that both groups wanted the city to remove the blighted "art house" property after it had attracted squatters. "The art house people didn’t buy it, pay taxes, or intend to live in it,” said Samul. “They were just going to use it to play in.” [MLive]
