Brewster-Douglass Projects To Be Torn Down By City

New, 1 comment

Detroit Mayor Dave Bing announced this morning that the federal government has awarded Detroit $6.5 million to help tear down the Brewster-Douglass public housing projects. The windowless towers, long considered an eyesore, are visible from I-75 just outside of downtown Detroit. They could be gone by as early as next spring. According to HistoricDetroit.org, two of the six original towers were imploded in 2003 and the rest have been closed since 2008.
