Located on Belle Isle, the condition of the 93,000-square-foot clubhouse of the Detroit Yacht Club isn't pristine, but it's still far from worrisome. That isn't stopping the Detroit Yacht Club Foundation, a new non-profit, from raising money to restore and preserve the building's original 1920s Mediterranean architecture. Perhaps the spirit of renewal will spread across Belle Isle to the clubhouse of the Detroit Boat Club, which is much farther from being in shipshape . [Detroit News]
