Using a rented boom lift, some very irate workers are chiseling off the facade of the Cass Plaza Apartments building as we type! Their ultimate goal is unclear--though what WAS made clear to us is that all lips on the job site are sealed, which is concerning. This building, on the corner of Cass and MLK, was originally known as the Naomi Apartments and was built in 1924. It's now part of the Cass-Davenport Historic District, but the current hacking-off of the 6th floor's cornices might have you believing otherwise. Anyone know what's going on here?
