A Vision for Dan Gilbert's Auction Property Score: The Grocery

A tipster alerted us to the fact that Bedrock Real Estate, the company owned by mogul Dan Gilbert, has posted a rendering to lure a commercial tenant to 1550 Woodward. Our obsession with this building dates back to Wayne County's auction last September, in which this very prominent property next to the Broderick Tower was up for public sale. In the end it went to Bedrock for $176,000 which is quite the score. Broderick Tower owner Mike Higgins had also been interested in the property which is a 4,052 square foot, single-story building that claims to have a rooftop terrace. Seems like Bedrock has a specific idea about a tenant that likes sidewalk seating. The website says that, "plans are being finalized to attract exciting new retail venues such as a specialty market and café to this thriving neighborhood which includes the adjacent 34-story Broderick residential tower."
