If you saw flying manhole covers shoot through the air in downtown Detroit early yesterday, it was not a hallucination caused by your super fun Saturday night activities. There was damage to the basement of Orchestra Hall when an explosion caused three manhole covers to blow off; it was (likely) started by an electrical problem that ignited methane gas. "It doesn't happen very often," DTE spokesman Len Singer said. "We've had some situations where it's occurred in the past." As if the streets of Detroit did not have a bad enough reputation for danger! Well we guess we just scared a few more suburbanites out of some street parking spaces. [Freep]
