One blogger for Rust Wire, the site about rust belt cities, says we are doomed. In an article about how Rust Belt cities without rail are destined to fail, he explains that BRT (bus rapid transit) does not count as real rail. The post reports that even the sprawling cities like Dallas-Forth Worth, TX and Charlotte, NC are ahead of our Great Lakes area on this one. "Personally, I am a bit miffed at the fact that cities in the south and west have been provided funding for rail transportation projects, while cities in the Rust Belt tend to be told that a BRT is their only viable (or fundable) option. That in itself gives those cities in the south and west an unfair advantage." [Rust Wire]
