Old Tigers Stadium: Play Ball?

New, 3 comments

The former home of the Detroit Tigers in Corktown might be redeveloped as a youth baseball facility. The baseball team moved to it's downtown home, Comerica Park, in 2000, leaving a big empty space behind right along Michigan Ave. According to MLive, Sen. Carl Levin and the Old Tiger Stadium Conservancy want to use a $3.8 million federal earmark to restore the playing field and potentially build a small museum recognizing the site's historical significance. Leftover funds could be used for facade improvements and other beautification projects on Michigan Avenue and in the surrounding neighborhood. [MLive]
