Green Dot Stables Is Ready To Giddy Up In Corktown Shores

New, 9 comments

The decor over at soon-to-open Green Dot Stables seems to want to be at the Kentucky Derby, but fortunately it is in Corktown Shores instead. That is the area of Corktown west of Rosa Parks Blvd and yes, there will be tee shirts for showing your local pride in this just invented neighborhood! Other "Shores"-area highlights include Pony Ride which has nothing to do with horses but certainly helps brand this hood as the equestrian destination. Green Dot owner Jacques Driscoll says most of the furnishings and kitschy details came with the place, which he and his wife managed to buy for a mere $80 K last August after looking at almost 200 places for sale. Parts of the decor date back to 1971, but expect the food to be something new for the area. His cook, Leslie Molnar, is doing a menu heavy on Sliders for $2 and $3 each and they'll be staying open late to serve food until 2 am. Before moving back to Michigan, Jacques spent several years out in San Diego, CA. "To do a place like this out there would cost $ 1.5 Million," he says. Stay tuned for opening updates; they are ready as the city gives them the green light. And if you are mapping the address, don't forget the "W." in "West Lafayette," because google maps will send you to the other side of the city. · Green Dot Stables [Facebook]
