Good news arrived for would-be empty lot buyers in Detroit via Mayor Bing's State of the City Speech last night. Starting with a pilot program in Southwest Detroit, residents will be able to purchase adjoining lots for a flat $200 fee. “This is a demonstration to see how it works,” explained General Services director Brad Dick. “Then we’ll kind of work the bugs and kinks out before we roll it out citywide?before we roll it out for everybody let’s get the kinks worked out first.” [M Live]
