Whole Foods Haters

New, 3 comments

Well apparently it was not everyone's most exciting day ever. Today. That day that Whole Foods Detroit broke ground. The Detroit News was very down on the whole thing over the weekend in an article that whined about the incentive money and took a nay-saying approach. "Will the stores be successful? The precedents are not good, with a troubling pattern that has played itself out over and over again in Detroit: A name-brand, big-box chain is attracted to the city with significant tax incentives. The store fails. The store is ultimately purchased and run successfully by an independent grocer, sans credits, abatements or incentives of any kind." The Op-Ed was written by the incredibly un-biased chairman of the Detroit Independent Grocers, who we are happy not to have clogging up the lines at The Most Important Grocery Store Ever.
