Yesterday was the first day vehicles crossing the Ambassador bridge from Canada to Detroit were able to connect directly with the interstate without the use of neighborhood streets. The much-delayed $230-million Gateway Project completed a new truck road connecting the bridge to expressways. While it has already been used, the official opening ceremony is at 10:30 a.m. today; MDOT is saying that the rest of the Gateway project will be finished by sometime in September. [Freep]
