Recent whining that the city favors national chain groceries over the indie guys seems to have made an impact. Detroit's Economic Development Corp. approved low-interest loans for store upgrades at three locations yesterday. But of course the complaints are not over. A rep from the Detroit Independent Grocers Association said the help offered "pales in comparison" with incentives that helped bring Whole Foods and Meijer to Detroit. [Freep]
