PricewaterhouseCoopers, the company that offers industry-focused assurance, advisory and tax services, has decided to take its downtown Detroit office a leetle further away from the new Wayne County Jail site. Noting the firm's "proud history" of being in Detroit and avoidance of offers from suburban landlords that were "courting" them, spokespeople told the Detroit News that PwC would take three floors in One Detroit Center, in December. They are leaving a location in the Madison Office Building (no @ there!) near Ford Field at 1900 St. Antoine. Oh but hey, if you ask David Breen, managing partner of PwC's Greater Michigan market, that whole jail thing was not the "reason" for the move, it was a "factor." In any case, "factor" effect sounds bad for business at the Madison Office Building, who did not return calls from The Detroit News. The new jail is slated to open in 2014; the construction site is bordered by Gratiot, St. Antoine, Clinton and the Chrysler Service Drive.
