Burned Stuff Gets Demolished

New, 1 comment

A block-long apartment that burned last year on the city's west side has been demolished, leaving a pile of wood and cinder blocks in its place. "The demolition occurred three weeks after a Free Press investigation revealed that the city is struggling to fulfill its promise to prioritize the demolition of vacant buildings near schools." The building was placed on the city's emergency demolition list in November but Detroit lacked the funds to take it town. It seems the owner stepped up and took it down. [Freep]
