Detroit and MSU Pursue (Poorly-Named) Major Urban Agriculture Program

New, 5 comments

In a slightly unspecific/vague article in the Free Press, we learn that Detroit's Mayor Dave Bing and the Michigan State University President signed some paperwork about an urban agriculture project yesterday. There were no deadlines, locations, or dollar figures in that document, but MSU is saying they are willing to spend $500,000 a year for three years on the project. They want to call it the MetroFoodPlus Innovation Cluster @Detroit. Because college kids won't be interested unless the spelling is missing some spaces and includes an @. To us, it sounds like the love child of a TEDx conference, a Kroger, and the M@dision building. In any case, the Freep says the cluster could take up 8 to 10 acres of @Detroit.
