Quite Possibly The Coolest House in All Of Hamtramck

New, 2 comments

If you are in the market for an awesome non-residential building to convert into a home, you might want to exclusively shop for meat packing plants. At least it worked out really well for artists Faina Lerman and Graem Whyte in Hamtramck. The Popps Packing art space/home was once a meat packing plant, then a cookie factory. Since 2009, Graem and Faina have hosted seasonal indoor/outdoor installations, exhibitions and performances in the building where they live and rent out an apartment to another resident. This Saturday, starting at 2:00 pm, Popps Packing will host a reception for new visiting artist installations/interventions in the space they are calling the Northwest Territories, presumably the two houses they bought in the last foreclosure auction. The art is by Michael Bizon and Christian Tedeschi.
