According to the HistoricDetroit.org facebook page, the American Beauty Building is a goner. Here is the status update as of about 4:45 today:
Has learned that the effort to save the American Beauty Iron building has failed. Remediation and other interior demo has begun. Thanks to those who tried to rescue another piece of the city's history from the trash heap.The building will be replaced by a Wayne State parking lot.
