In last year's Curbed Cup contest, our effort to pick neighborhood of the year, Ferndale quashed Corktown in the first round and went on to take the Cup home. Natch, with Corktown's recent super-buzzy hotness (in development news and the rental market), Ferndale had to fire back with something new. Meet Local Kitchen + Bar, which opens later this month on Nine Mile. According to Eat It Detroit, the building itself used to be a gas station “a zillion years ago.”
