A Ferndale coffee shop that closed last March is going to reopen in Highland Park. What? From Curbed-Cup claiming Fancy Ferndale to... there? Is the owner, A.J. O'Neil, out of his mind? That city within Detroit is "economically challenged" to put it lightly. But A.J. is a native hoping to attract others to the area. "I maintain that ground zero for the economic challenges that this country faces all goes back to Highland Park, Michigan with the disinvestment of the assembly line there,"he says. The new cafe will open in the basement of St. Benedict's Church. [Huff Po Detroit]
