Ugh, I hate this Belle Isle to Central Park comparison that keeps popping up because it's in no way apples to apples. We're talking about completely different population density, usage, level and number of services, and funding structures. When Central Park was a publicly funded park it became a bit of a dump too. So if we really want to make that comparison perhaps we should be having a dialogue about private-public partnerships and not State take over. Not sure how I feel about that, but I do know the State is having its own issues maintaining and keeping open all the existing State Parks without adding Belle Isle to the list. -Anne Fowler-Edin [Underfunded Belle Isle]
