This proposed demo isn't going to happen, and the owner knows it. First off, this building is about as historically well protected as it gets. Second, particularly on the heels of the Van Dyke mansion scrapping debacle, there's no way that the powers that be are about to let an out-of-town developer come in and demolish a historically significant building for mere parking. I think the developers are angling for a deal from the city or the state. Basically, I think they're setting themselves up for a quid pro quo, which, one they have in hand, will drop the crazy talk of demolishing the building. Then, everyone will be oh-so-relieved once talk of destroying yet another architectural gem has subsided. It ain't beanbag. -macfarr [Why The State Savings Bank Demo Is One Of Worst Ideas Ever]
