The local Detroit AIA (American Institute of Archiects) chapter is having a competition with a bit of a celebrity judge! Architect Daniel Libeskind is signed on as a jury member! The starchitect is best known for winning the World Trade Center design competition and buildings such as the Jewish Museum in Berlin and the extension to the Denver Art Museum. The Detroit Riverfront Competition challenges entrants to design the public space for the area between Cobo Hall and the Renaissance Center and between Jefferson Avenue and the Detroit River. This includes Hart Plaza and entries are due November 30, 2012. First place is a $5000 and Trip to Detroit. Hey wait a minute... can we exchange that for a real vacation?
