The film Sparkle is set to be released August 17, but Detroiters got a sneak peek of the film last Sunday. The remake of the 1976 musical film features Whitney Houston in what ended up being her last film role and was shot in Detroit from October to November in 2011. Indian Village residents saw the film crew take over this lovely home at 2455 Iroquois St. for part of the shoot; they report the owners are currently in the process of fixing it up. We have not seen the original or the remake, but according to IMBD, the film is about three sisters forming a girl group during the Motown era.
