A Sneak Peek of Cobo Center Gearing Up for the Auto Show

Workers at Cobo Center are doing all sorts of last-minute preparations for the 2013 North American International Auto Show, which opens to the public January 19. Once dreary and dated, Cobo Center is in the midst of a $260M makeover focusing on a connection with the riverfront, which seems like a great/obvious idea. Of the two major renovation highlights—the atrium and the Grand Ballroom—only the atrium will be ready for this year's Auto Show, but that's okay. The atrium alone is quite impressive, with three stories of glass offering up expansive river views. Lucky for us (and you), we don't have to wait with the common people for Cobo's grand opening—Nicole Rupersburg of Eat it Detroit has already been there, done that, bringing us a glimpse of the action.
