Farbman Group Grabs IBM HQ: 15-Story Southfield Centre

New, 9 comments

You may have forgotten, but high-rises are occasionally purchased by people other than Dan Gilbert. For example: The Southfield Centre out on 9 Mile was just purchased for an undisclosed price by a derivative of the Farbman Group. The Farbman crew either owns or manages about a dozen Detroit office buildings. Their portfolio includes the Fisher, the Cadillac Tower, and the Albert Kahn Building. They previously managed One Woodward Avenue, but Bedrock Management sent 'em packing after Gilbert bagged the building last month. Built in 1976, Southfield Centre is quite visible from the Lodge and is best known for being the Detroit headquarters for IBM. It's 15-stories, recently renovated, and is said to have some terrific views. Even so, we guarantee views of the Detroit River top Southfield views any day. We're looking at you, IBM.
