Vacancy Bank

The rather obscure Detroit Land Bank will soon take ownership of 7,900 county-owned parcels that didn't sell in last year's foreclosure auction. That means they're really getting the worst of the worst. This will make the organization one of the largest public landowners in the city, or as the Detroit News would say would say, "A mega-landlord presiding over a kingdom of decrepitude and uncertainty." Yikes. [Detroit News]
