Midtown's Charlotte Apartments Getting a $6.1M Remod

New, 31 comments

After at least a decade of vacancy, Midtown's historic Charlotte Apartments are the target of a major restoration effort. Detroit Central City Community Mental Health (DCC) is the nonprofit behind the task, which will spend $6.1M converting the blighted building into 27 one-bedroom apartments aimed at providing much-needed shelter to veterans, homeless, and those with special needs. Construction on the 93-year-old building is set to begin in May and last about a year.
