Surprise! Belle Isle has been leased to the state, reports the Detroit News. This news somehow came from Detroit's City Council, which probably had no hand in negotiations after failing to vote on the lease back in January. No details yet on the duration or the money involved. Keep in mind: The last lease proposed by Governor Snyder involved 30 years of state control, with the city or state having the option to back out every 10 years.
UPDATE: It's a 30-year lease, and the state is promising at least $10M in improvements. Details here.
