Cass Storefront and Former Freezer Theater Now Erased

New, 10 comments

Machinery is crunching into the corner of Cass and Alexandrine right now, as crews waste no time in bringing Midtown another parking lot. We made the mistake of saying this building isn't historic or significant. While that statement is still mostly true, several readers pointed out a bit of interesting history.
Some old concert posters indicate this was once the Freezer Theater, a Cass Corridor punk rock venue during the early '80s. Which of the tiny storefronts the Freezer called home isn't clear, but DetroitYES set up a thread in response to its demolition. If anyone has photos or info, feel free to send along.
